OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD)
OVERVIEW
It is said to be an illness that causes mental were recurring undesired thoughts or desires arise. It may also cause people to do definite actions again and again. People could have both obsessions and compulsions. It is widely used among people everywhere. OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is now more understood due to growing awareness of OCD and symptoms across different cultures and age groups.
NATURE & DEFINITION
It refers to a mental health condition that is differentiated by unfavorable, obsessive thoughts and recurring behaviors or mental acts that a person feels to perform. Whether it is an irresistible style that may be to wash your hands every time after touching something that might be dirty. These can be seen as impacting daily life and well-being of a person’s life. The nature of OCD can be decoded as follows:
Obsessions: These happen repeatedly through thoughts, images, or desires which are unwanted, and might cause serious distress or anxiety.
Compulsions: In this situation, you are compelled to perform a task because you are unable to stop yourself, such as washing your hands repeatedly, when you don’t think it’s necessary.
Raising public understanding about OCD and symptoms has helped more people seek help earlier and manage their condition more effectively.
SYMPTOMS
The main symptoms that can be seen in a person having OCD are obsessions and compulsions which can interfere with their normal activities. Many people could show only one symptom.
Fear of coming into contact with germs.
Fear of you’re not careful enough results in causing harm to yourself.
Extreme concern with ethics.
Need for perfection as well as constant reassurance
Collecting items that have no value.
Repeatedly checking things like locks, doors, etc.
Having upsetting thoughts.
OCD and symptoms vary from mild to severe, but in many cases, they deeply impact a person’s work, relationships, and mental peace.
CAUSES
Biological
Genetics. It may have seen a genetic component, but specific genes have not been found yet.
Learning. People can adopt (compulsive) behaviors and (obsessive) fears from peers or parents.

TREATMENT

(TMS) transcranial magnetic stimulation: It uses a kind of electromagnetic pulses that reach and regulate the different parts of the brain regions. It has been shown that it helps to relieve OCD symptoms.
Medications: Medicines like Fluoxetine, Fluvoxamine, Paroxetine, and Sertraline can help a patient.
There is increasing awareness around OCD and treatment, which includes therapy, medication, and brain stimulation techniques. Finding the right OCD and treatment path often leads to major improvements in quality of life. With proper care and support, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is manageable and recovery is possible.
